Syntonic (SYT:ASX) now offers its Overpass platform on Apple devices as well as Android

September 15, 2017 by Colin Hay

US-headquartered mobile platform and services provider Syntonic Limited has used the inaugural Mobile World Congress Americas conference to launch the iOS version of its Freeway Overpass product on the Apple App Store. The Apple unveiling follows an Android version launch on the Google Play store in late June.

Freeway Overpass is a cross-carrier, over-the-top (“OTT”), paid and sponsored, subscription service which offers unlimited mobile access for the most popular mobile content and applications, providing assistance to mobile subscribers in exceeding data plan limits or paying more for a higher-tiered plan.

Syntonic says studies have shown that mobile users desire more flexible, personalised data plans, with a recent survey by MATRIXX Software, finding that almost 60% of all mobile users would change their mobile service if they had more choice and control over the use of their data plan. Additionally, nearly half of survey respondents indicated they would be willing to pay 10% more for unlimited access for only the apps they use most often.

Syntonic CEO and Managing Director Gary Greenbaum says the Overpass service saves consumers’ money by giving them the flexibility to choose unlimited access for the specific apps and content they want and need. Subscription plans are offered as sponsored and paid, with Overpass featuring a cross-section of popular video, music, social media apps and games.

“The launch of Freeway Overpass for the iPhone is an important step to amplify our consumer market reach. Our team has worked diligently to release Overpass on iOS, and we will now begin targeted marketing campaigns in the U.S. to raise awareness and drive consumer adoption,” Mr Greenbaum stated.

In other positive news Freeway has been nominated for a World Summit Award.

“The nomination of Freeway by Syntonic for a World Summit Award is also a great reflection of the technology we have built, both in terms of the significant impact of sponsored data and Syntonic’s recognition as a leader in innovation,” Mr Greenbaum said.

With Freeway Overpass now launched on Apple and Android Syntonic is accelerated its Freeway Overpass marketing activities in the U.S. with the product recently featured in the Variety online entertainment magazine, which has 17 million unique monthly visitors.
